Geoff McFetridge

Monster Dice combines e15’s typical European oak heartwood with the artwork by Geoff McFetridge using laser etching. McFetridge’s drawing is an extract from the story of a boy who draws monsters that come to life and begin to draw themselves, created by the artist and his four year old daughter. Each of the six sides link interchangeably with one another, offering a multitude of interpretations of the story. Few people better exemplify the lack of boundaries in today's design world than Geoff McFetridge . He is a truly multi-disciplinary designer. What I admire about this piece is its invitation for participation, it allows for an element of play and puzzle. However this puzzle doesn’t have one simple answer. I admire the fact that he has let his daughter contribute to the making of this playful device. The unique imagery and idiosyncratic characters create magical fallacies that are frequently experienced in a child’s imagination.
